Chandigarh was the dream city of India’s first Prime Minister Jawhar Lal Nehru after Partition. after Partition of Punjab west Punjab was in Pakistan and Punjab capital was Lahore but easet Pakistan was in india so Indian Punjab required a capital because former capital Lahore had become a capital of Lahore Pakistan. Than American architect tasked to design a new city called “Chandigarh” name taken from Hindu goddess ChandiDevi.
